FIRE FLY ~ At Windsor and Eton Central station by Nicholas Emsley, aged 8, whose grandmother had written to a BBC TV programme hosted by Jimmy Saville asking him to name a loco. August 31st 1985
~ Naming was originally planned to take place at Swindon Works but this was cancelled after the closure of the works was announced.
~ Unique two piece black-backed nameplates 'FIRE' and 'FLY' with centrally positioned GWR coat of arms and GWR150 commemorative plates. When first applied to 47609 in blue livery the whole ensemble was surrounded by a thin orange border.
