47840 was the final Class 47 in a batch of Virgin loco's given 'Heritage' liveries in 2002. By popular demand from enthusiasts the loco was repainted in the once maligned and despised 'BR Blue' livery.
47840, together with blue 'large logo' heritage liveried 47847 double-headed the 08:46 1M56 Penzance to Manchester Piccadilly service, this being the final loco hauled train from Penzance.
